It’s hard to get a size perspective on the bird against the rocks. This looks like a small bird. I always thought kingfishers were more the size of storks. Am I wrong?
It is a small bird: Male: 20 cm or 7.9″ and 29-40 g or 1.0 – 1.4 oz.Female: 33-55g or 1.2-1.9 oz.The Giant Kingfisher of Africa is the longest at 18″. The Laughing Kookaburra is a little shorter than than but the stockiest at just under a pound.
